Everyone loves to win, and everyone dreams of seeing $25,000 cash, unencumbered, in their bank account. What if we told you it’s possible to make that a reality by doing what you love: filmmaking?
But is it really that simple? Sure, anyone can pick up a camera and press record (hello, smartphones), but what makes a winning short film and how do you know you’ve got the right tools to create one? Well lucky for you, we’re going to tell you how. Enter the Louisiana Film Prize. Film Prize offers $25,000 cash to the best short film as determined by a 50/50 vote of industry professional judges and audience vote.

The rules for the Film Prize are simple — Shoot a short film (5-15 minutes) in the approved area, submit your rough cut by August 3rd, and you could be one of the Top 20 films selected to advance to the festival where you could win $25,000 in cold, hard cash. You can do all of your pre-production and post production anywhere, but you must film your short in the approved filming areas.
If selected to join the Top 20 advance to the finals, you’ll be among a select few in indie filmmaking history, joining your competitors in Shreveport, Louisiana this October for the most raucous, heart-racing, and professionally-beneficial festival in the world, Prize Fest, where judges and thousands of audience members will watch your film and select the grand prize winner.
But entering is just the vert first step. What comes next is the real magic. For ten years, the Film Prize has been a leader in the business of creative growth, transforming Louisiana into a thriving indie filmmaking community for people just like you. In 2021, we don’t just endeavor to inspire you to create a short film; we want to give you the tools to grow an honest-to-god career. This means bringing resources and opportunities directly to you, our filmmakers.
Each month we are hosting dynamic and engaging meetups and mentor workshops enabling our filmmakers to inspire one another, expand the way they think about their art and develop professional relationships that affords further opportunity for collaboration.
