How to Compete in Fashion Prize

Participating in Fashion Prize is easier than you think. And we’re here to help along the way!

If you have any questions about the process, you can connect with Artist Liaison Chris Lyon at chris@prize.foundation.

Step 1: Design a Collection

To enter Fashion Prize, competitors must design an original six-piece garment collection. Each collection must debut at Fashion Prize and must not have appeared in other competitions and/or showcases (except approved student class exhibitions) prior to the Fashion Prize. Individual pieces may appear elsewhere prior to competition, but the collection as a whole must be unique to this competition.

Fashion Prize staff is on-hand to provide support throughout the process, assisting with questions, providing high-level guidance, and accountability for competitors.

Step 2: Document Your Design Process

As collections must be original works, we require Designers to document their design process. This can be done through keeping design sketches and progress photos, receipts for materials, and similar evidence. Each design submitted must include a thorough description of materials used, the sourcing of those materials, and techniques used in design and/or construction.

Step 3: Submit Your Collection

Designers must complete and submit their Collection of six looks AND complete the Designer Portal no later than Tuesday, July 30, 2024 by 11:59 p.m. CT. The Designer Portal is a web profile that provides a place to submit background information on your Collection, your Designer bio, headshot, documentation of your design process, and other required items.

Collections must be physically submitted for consideration. Collections may be dropped off or mailed using the address provided in the Designer Portal.

Finalists will be announced in August 2024.

Step 4: Attend Fashion Prize at Prize Fest in October

The Top 5 Designer Finalists are invited to Shreveport, Louisiana October 12-13, 2024 to experience Fashion Prize in-person. Each finalist is provided with a hotel room for two nights, VIP passes to festival events, up to $250 in travel reimbursements, and more.

Regardless of selection, all designers can benefit from the communal experience and networking that takes place at Fashion Prize during Prize Fest in October. We encourage you to plan to attend the festival to connect and grow together.

Plus, we know how to throw one hell of a party, so there’s that!

Step 5: Elevate as a Creative Professional with Mentorship

Fashion Prize is so much more than a fashion competition — it’s an opportunity for professional development, networking, and elevation. Fashion Prize Mentor Judges come from across the country. Each of the mentors have been where you are, and will be made available to you for mentorship during the festival.

Making connections, learning, and growing are key to maximizing the Fashion Prize experience!
