Director's Statement

With Grad Night, I wanted to capture the feeling of looking back at the early 2000s in a way that felt genuine, with all the rough edges you’d actually see when watching a tape from the era. To help with that, we shot most of the film on an old MiniDV camera and cast age-appropriate actors.

The film started with a pretty common question that most of us ask as we get older: “If you could go back, would you do anything differently?” But it kind of evolved into a different question: “If your younger self knew where their life was headed, would they make different choices?”
