Director's Statement

Inhumation is a gothic horror drama about what happens when a man becomes so obsessed with preserving his life that he comes to ignore the life in front of him. Edward, one of our two main characters, allows his actions to become completely dictated by the horrific, unearthed trauma from his past – a rare affliction that can render his body completely still, as if he has died. Meanwhile, his wife, Victoria, suffers the unintended consequences of her husband’s death drive, feeling more isolated and distant from Edward with each passing day.

Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s 1844 poem “The Premature Burial”, Inhumation tells a story that we feel is still universal today. We all know an Edward or a Victoria in our lives. Our goal with this genre-blending film is to be a humane, cautionary tale about what happens when we let our hardships, tragedies, and obsessions fully consume us.
